Our Favorite Restaurants In No Particular Order
Van's Vietnamese Restaurant Vietnamese Cuisine No Website 307 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12206 (518) 436-1868 FANTASIC Veggie & non-veggie dishes (In our opinion). We are a bit addicted to the pickled daikon that comes with every dish. The Blue Spice Thai Cuisine http://www.bluespicethai.com 1619 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205 (518) 608-6843 The main entrees we have had are so good, that we find it difficult to speak to each other through the "mmmms" and the "Oh My This is Good". We have not tried any of the salads. The Decor is AMAZING (especially if you know what it looked like before they bought the place). We are never disappointed when we come here. Yum. Update 2/11/13 - Something happened yesterday that NEVER happens to us at Blue Spice. We received HORRIBLE service. It really could not have been any worse unless the food was bad. We were seated immediately, but no one came to ask us whether we wanted something to drink, appetizers, etc for almost 30 minutes. Then, because we could hear the happenings in the kitchen from where we were seated, there was clearly an argument between the chefs and the waiters. It seemed that no one was having a good expereince at the Blue. The food - great as always. Next time, we may visit their Clifton Park or Delmar locations. The Garlic Lovers Corner Mediterranean Cuisine http://garlicloverscorner.com 235 N Greenbush Rd, Troy, NY 12180 (518) 283-1621 We like the Lunch Menu. Great Hummus, Great Chicken Pita, Great Tzatziki Sauce - Yum! The Phonecians Lebanese Cuisine www.phoeniciansofalbany.com 1686 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205-4062 (518) 464-4444 How lucky you are if the African Pepper Soup is on the menu! Shalimar Restaurant Pakistani/Indian Cuisine www.goshalimar.com 407 Fulton Street, Troy, NY 12180 (518) 273-8744 The buffet, oh the buffet. You cannot go wrong with the buffet! The New World Bistro Eclectic/International http://newworldbistrobar.com/ 300 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY (518) 694-0520 Umm We just flat out like the place. Bill fell in love with Ric Orlando's Jerk Chicken. There is a tofu dish that we cannot seem to find on the online menu. We won't describe it to you, because nothing about it sounds tasty - but it really was fantastic. Mexican Radio Mexican :-) http://www.mexrad.com/Hudson.htm 537 Warren Street, Hudson, NY 12534-2801 (518) 828-7770 Sooooo - We will travel to any Mexican Radio for their House Radio Salad: "A luscious assortment of fresh mixed greens topped with tender grilled cactus, apples, jicama, carrots, roasted pepitas (pumpkin seeds), queso añejo and fresh herbs then tossed with a tequila-lime vinaigrette". The Whistling Tea Kettle Light Fare http://www.thewhistlingkettle.com/our-tea-room 24 Front Street Ballston Spa, NY 12020 (518) 884-2664 The "Afternoon Tea" composed of a sandwich/quiche/crepe, soup/salad, dessert, and a cup of tea is just wonderful. We only have good memories from the Whistling Tea Kettle and we have not problem with the long drive to Malta. We thoroughly enjoy their soups. This place makes for a romantic lunch or a fun girls out. The Medberry Spa is down the block. Ahem. Creo American with Asian and Mediterranean Influences http://www.creorestaurant.com 1475 Western Avenue, Stuyvesant Plaza Albany, New York 12203 (518) 482-8000 On our first anniversary, we went to a lovely place in Portland, Maine called Walter's where we had two of the tastiest fish dishes we have ever experienced. Creo brought us back to that great memory. We love the romantic and modern feel of the place. It has become one of our "special occaision" places! Hana Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar Cuisine: Self-explanatory from the name http://hanaalbany.com 1620 Western Avenue Albany, NY 12203 (518) 452-4262 This summer we took our daughter and her friend for their first hibachi experience. They loved it. None of us had ever been to Hana and we enjoyed every bit of the experience. We decided to go again - just the adults and again we enjoyed every bite. So Hana had to make the MoodyFoodie list. The Century House Traditional American Fare http://www.thecenturyhouse.com 997 New Loudon Road Latham, NY 12110 (518) 785-0931 The Century House is elegantly rustic - like walking into a well-to-do cabin in the woods with a fireplace. It is one of the most romantic restaurants we visit in the area providing that it is not a Thursday - Saturday Night and there isn't a wedding taking place in their banquet hall/s. Bill says that The Century House has one of the best cornbread that he has ever tasted. Spill'n The Beans Coffee House and Bistro Amreican Fare - Breakfast and Lunch http://www.spillnthebeans.com 13 3rd Street Troy, New York 12180 (518) 268-1028 This is one of our new favorite places to go. Yummy food, loose leaf tea, hard wood decor, local products, free wi-fi: it was made for us. If they only had veggie sausage.... Buffalo Wagon Pan Asian - Mostly Chinese http://www.buffalowagon.com 6 Metro Park Rd #3 Albany, NY 12205 (518) 689-0937 The first time we ate here, it was settled. When we want Chinese food, there really is only one place for us to go. Nuff Said. Mr. Fuji Sushi Japanese http://www.mrfujisushi.com 1475 Western Avenue Albany NY 12203 (518) 269-3999 Even though there is not a wealth of space, we have always been seated quickly. Even though the seats snug, we have never felt like we were being interrupted by other customers' conversations. Everything that we have eaten here has been delicious - even something as simple as fried rice. We hope that this establishment does well and lasts a long time. |
